Project – Nelson & Colne College Media Block

CP Hood Mechanical & Electrical recently handed over this project for Nelson & Colne College: fully refurbished classrooms & meeting rooms with future flexibility in mind.
As part of ongoing site-wide upgrades, we completed the MEP fit out element of multiple classrooms and corridor spaces, delivering a brand-new digital teaching academy for ICT students.
On the roof, we replaced HVAC installations on the plant deck with a new upgraded air handling system more in line with the needs of a specialist further education college. With covid 19 still relevant to fully mechanically ventilated spaces, we worked closely with the MEP Consultant to design a packaged, filtered and improved system exceeding BB101 and Part F.
The lighting was designed and installed with daylight opportunities in mind and clever retractive switching helps the feel of the environment whilst conserving unnecessary wasted energy.
Delivered over a 12-week contract period, we mostly worked during the college summer holidays to ensure as little disruption to students as possible. Completed on time and within budget.
With a new look just in time for new academic year, Nelson and Colne further cement their reputation as one of the foremost colleges in Lancashire.
